on patents. Specific information about how to protect a given
invention should be obtained by consulting a registered patent
agent or patent attorney. Failure to take the proper action, soon

Facts About The PCT - Brochure about the Patent
Cooperation Treaty. The PCT allows the filing of a single
application, which can be used subsequently to obtain
patents in about 90 individual countries. PCT
applications can be filed by U.S. patent agents or
attorneys as a first step to obtaining worldwide patent
protection.

search engine.

- Title 37 of the Code of Federal Regulations. These are
the rules of practice of the PTO.

The Manual of Patent Examining Procedure. This is the
procedural guide for the examination of patent
applications, used within the PTO.
- Federal Circuit Decisions
- Access to recent decisions of the Court of Appeals of
the Federal Circuit on patent related cases.

Court Decisions - Recent decisions of the U.S.
Supreme Court.
- Federal Register -
For changes being made in federal rules.
- CNIDR
Patent Database - Free searchable database of many
U.S. patents.
- AIDS
Patent Database - Free searchable database of patents
related to HIV tests, and the like.
- IBM Patent
Database - A database provided by IBM Corporation for
the public.
- ChemPatPlus
- Keyword and CAS registry number searching of U.S.
chemical patents. This database is provided by the
Chemical Abstracts Service.
- Chemical
Group Classes - This link provides access to the U.S.
patent classification system chemical groups. This list
comprises organic chemicals in general, pharmaceuticals,
agricultural chemicals, polymers and biotechnology
inventions.
